Enjoyment of the Blessing

Day 347

"The best service that can be rendered to a Country, next to that of giving it liberty, is in diffusing the mental improvement equally essential to the preservation, and the enjoyment of the blessing."

~James Madison~

I don't have anything to name this

Day 338

"The people can never willfully betray their own interests: But they may possibly be betrayed by the representatives of the people; and the danger will be evidently greater where the whole legislative trust is lodged in the hands of one body of men, than where the concurrence of separate and dissimilar bodies is required in every public act."

Free system of commerce

Day 320

"I own myself the friend to a very free system of commerce, and hold it as a truth, that commercial shackles are generally unjust, oppressive and impolitic — it is also a truth, that if industry and labour are left to take their own course, they will generally be directed to those objects which are the most productive, and this in a more certain and direct manner than the wisdom of the most enlightened legislature could point out."

Liberty and Learning

Day 316

"What spectacle can be more edifying or more seasonable, than that of Liberty and Learning, each leaning on the other for their mutual & surest support?"

Precautions

Day 308

"A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions."

Governor of the Universe.

Day 291

"It is the duty of every man to render to the Creator such homage....Before any man can be considered as a member of Civil Society, he must be considered as a subject of the Governor of the Universe."

I really like this one!

Day 218

“It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by man of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, of so incoherent that they cannot be understood.”

Justice

Day 167

"Justice is the end of government. It is the end of civil society. It ever has been and ever will be pursued until it be obtained, of until Liberty be lost in the pursuit."

We have staked the whole future

Day 165

"We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to sustain ourselves, according to the Ten Commandments of God. "

Happy Birthday Thomas Jefferson

Day 104

"He lives and will live in the memory and gratitude of the wise and good, as a luminary of science, as a votary of liberty, as a model of patriotism, and as a benefactor of human kind. In these characters, I have known him, and not less in the virtues and charms of social life, for a period of fifty years, during which there was not an interruption of diminution of mutual confidence and cordial friendship, for a single moment in a single instance. What I fell there fore now, need not, I should say, cannot, be expressed."
~James Madison~
About Thomas Jefferson

Now someone who will remain nameless but who's initials are E. R. I. N.  laughed at me when she found out that I did happy birthday posts to people who have been dead for 200 years☺. But that's okay because I laughed at myself to☺. I think it's kinda funny that I do that but I figure they where the one's who won the independence that I enjoy to day so who cares if they are dead I still wish them happy birthday.
